Every cloud has a silver lining, they say. I'm a personal believer in optimism. . . if you can't find the silver lining, you're just looking at the cloud from the wrong direction!

Sharing the Bed
Sometimes Miguel snatches Angie from her crib in the early morning hours and brings her into bed with us. She spends the time rolling between us (and sleeping, of course), snuggling up first with one parent, then the other. When Miguel gets out of bed at 5:45 to get ready for work, though, Angie is bereft. The next time she rolls over towards her Daddy, he's not there, and she calls out for "Papi" piteously. One morning, she even looked under his pillow to see where he was. "He went to work, peanut," I say gently and snuggle us under the covers again. Usually, she'll drift back to sleep with me, but occasionally, we're up and out of bed earlier than we ought to because she misses Papi.

I love sleeping with babies. Not in the family bed sort of way...Mom and Dad need time to, um, make more babies, but I'm very fond of tucking the baby in with us when he or she wakes up in the night. David complains, but I think it's only half-hearted; if the baby doesn't show up for a couple of nights, he's sure to notice and wonder why!
