Minute Post

Read it either way you'd like. I only have a minute to share my minute thoughts, anyway. Maddie is still being a horrible sleeper. I'm trying to get her used to going back to sleep while still in her crib and not in my arms. I'm also trying to keep her there all night, but some nights, like last night, I just can't keep getting up every 20 minutes to comfort her. It's exhausting. She sits, she stands (holding on, of course) and she's so eager to crawl, but not quite there yet. She doesn't get on her hands and knees only, though, she often gets on her hands and feet with her little tushy stiking up in the air. She often rolls her way to places she wants to go. We're also working on a two nap day, so that her naps are longer and she's happier. She gets tired by the two hour and fifteen minute mark, but I push it to two forty five and sometimes three hours. Depending on what we're doing it works or is a major catastrophe.

Angie is still being a great big sister. I haven't been spending as much time with her as I should, so I have to work on that. She's working on blending letter sounds into words, informally, of course. She got about six words in a row right today as I sounded them out and she determined what they were. Sometimes the ending sound confuses her into thinking its the beginning sound and she comes up with some off the wall suggestions: "/h/ /o/ /t/" I'll sound out, and she'll hear the T sound and say, "tomato!" She makes me laugh. But apparently, I am mostly upset around her, because she's taken to asking me if I'm mad when she does something not quite right. I'll have to work on that.

Well, Maddie is sleeping better right now than I thought, so I'm going to try to put in some programming time.

Talk to you all later.

Babies who sleep badly often just want to sleep with Mama. Something to consider maybe? I've always slept with my newborns for a few weeks before transitioning them into their cribs, and even then, they almost always make midnight appearances for months. I like cuddling up with them anyway, and David doesn't mind as long as they start in their own beds so he can get some loving, too. :-) I was actually a little disappointed that Penelope turned out to be such a good sleeper. She did better away from me than with right from the very start.
