So, we opted to buy a used 1998 Chrysler Concorde from one of Miguel's colleagues for $1800 and spend as much of the remaining money from the totaled car as necessary on fixing it up. Don't get me wrong, it doesn't need a lot of work, just a tune-up, tires, maybe some breaks (not sure yet as our family mechanic hasn't looked at it yet). Some minor things don't work the way they should...the driver's seat will go down, but not up; the rear window doesn't go down; the front speakers are staticky...but these are minor things. The car itself is in beautiful condition and runs nicely. It is roomy and comfortable and clean.
What more could you want for $1800 (and no monthly payments)?

This, I believe, is a much better choice than the much more expensive Infinity you were thinking about previously. I have to say, I was a little worried about your reasoning on that one . . .
Good choice and good luck with your new car!
