Slowly but surely, I'm working out my "going back to work" dilemma. Today, I called my department chair at the high school to discuss my options. Unfortunately, she wasn't in and hasn't returned my call yet, so that part is still unknown. Mostly, I'm wondering about part-timing it, or going back full time starting in January or some such thing.
Next, I've made up a bunch of business cards (which I will take to Mommy's and Daddy's house tomorrow to cut) which, as Jennie suggested, I can leave in local businesses around town. I've also contacted a tutoring service called "Preferred Tutoring" to see what they're about and how much they charge students/pay tutors. I also can look into those learning centers like Hunterdon and . . .I can't think of the other one they advertise all the time. . . .
Coincidentally, over the summer I put flyers in my neighborhood's mailboxes about tutoring and yesterday one of my neighbors stopped by as I was getting out of the car to ask about tutoring for her daughter. So, because she did so poorly in Algebra 1 and is now doing poorly in Geometry (she's an A and B student, mom says, in all her other subjects) , mom and dad want to get her a tutor for this year and possibly for over the summer. I'll work on making that one happen. I'm supposed to talk to her this weekend.
I think I'll be able to get enough tutoring to make this work and be able to stay home. I'm soooooo looking forward to being able to do that. And if I can get enough jobs, I may even quit teaching college, as I can make way more tutoring than teaching.
It turns out that Miguel believes that I should stay home with Angie. But he's not making it easy, because he keeps "joking" about selling the house and moving back into an apartment at half the monthly cost of our house. I put "joking" because sometimes it's hard for me to tell if he's serious or not, and he never lets on. So, it's easier knowing that he wants me to stay home, but I really have to start hustling (is that the right spelling?) and I'm so bad at that. World's best procrastinator sitting right here!
Oh, and I have to make a decision by March 1. That's when I have to notify my school district of my intentions.
::sigh::

If it'll save you that much money, living in an apartment is not a terrible idea. I do hope the tutoring thing works for you, though. That would be wonderful.
Not to offer flippant medical advice or anything, but I was reading today about ovarian cysts. The author said usually a shot of Progesterone, to override the estrogen that caused the problem, will usually get rid of it. Just in case the doc didn't mention this as an option, you can ask.
So far, I don't have any medical advice about it yet, cause they haven't called me back. But as soon as they do, I'll be sure to mention it.
The other tutoring place is Sylvan.
You may also consider a small website to detail your tutoring process (Do they come to you? What subjects you cover etc.) and your pricing. People may be more inclined to call you once they have compaired you to other people/services. You don't have to have it listed with google or anyone right now, just put the address on your cards. Later, if you feel you'd like to, you can list yourself with a search engine, too!
Love you!
