Rain Rain Go Away -- Just for This Weekend

I don't mind the rain.  It waters the flowers, fills the reservoirs and allows us to chill in the house having snuggly days of schooling.  It's been raining all week, despite the forecasters' claims that each day will be partly sunny with "a chance of a thunderstorm in spots".  Clearly, this is the spot for the storms.  Normally, I wouldn't care, but we're supposed to be hosting a rather large baby shower for my sister-in-law and brother-in-law this weekend ----- outside.  Granted they've built in a rain date, but we really don't want to have to go there.  And our yard tends to hold water for a long time in the back and side areas.  And we wouldn't want the guests sullying their shoes on the way to the buffet, now, would we?  I'm hoping and hoping that it clears up today and tomorrow so that the hot, bright sun will dry up the yard, but as of now, that doesn't look possible.  It's still gray and foggy out there.
