I watched a Cicada Killer Bee kill a cicada yesterday. At first I felt sorry for the dying bug; then I looked it up online and discovered it was a cicada. And do you know that the bee picked up the carcas and flew away with it? Amazing.
I like looking at my garden and seeing the fruits grow bigger and rounder. Though the garden is too full, it looks wonderful. Tomato plants growing taller than their 42" cages, all crowded together in a dense forest of fragrance. Canteloupe vines twining around the other plants, up the fence and even over the nearby lawn. The large, showy leaves of the eggplants, which have yet to flower. The small-in-comparison bell pepper plants just beginning to bud. Had I realized that ALL of the plants were going to survive I might not have planted so many of them. But it is wonderful to look at! (And I'm not really fond of eggplant, but since Sandie went through the trouble to start them, I thought I ought to at least let them bear fruit! Besides, I have relatives who'll eat them; and neighbors too! (I mean the neighbors will eat the eggplants, not that the relatives will eat the neighbors.))
Goodnight.
