"What shall we have for breakfast this morning?" I asked Maddie as she dogged me during the morning chores. "Broccoli!" she declared. "But Maddie, broccoli is not a breakfast food!" I exclaimed.
"But Mommy, can I pet the broccoli?" she asked, hoping I'd take it out anyway. The children like the fuzzy look of broccoli and often try to pet the broccoli in the grocery store despite repeated admonitions. But this week, we brought home two cute fuzzy broccoli crowns to keep as pets...I mean to eat for dinner. But apparently Maddie wasn't willing to wait for dinner. So I pulled out the broccoli for her to pet and then inspiration struck.
"How about broccoli and sausage omelets?" I asked.
"Ooooooh, yes!"
And so, we had broccoli for breakfast. (It was yummy, too!)
