Conversations with Kindergarteners

I called to the back of the van, "Are you warm enough back there?"  The car had been cold when we set out, and though I was nice and toasty in my heated seat, I didn't know how the rear of the car was doing.
"I am now," Angie said.  "But I was cold last night.  Mommy, someone kept taking off my covers!" she said in disbelief.  Then she paused.  "Or maybe it was me."

Angie: "Mommy, I had a really funny dream last night."
Me: "You did?"
Angie: "Yes.  There were lots and lots of Sophia's!"  (Sophia is the guinea pig.)
Me: "Oh my!  And you had a scary dream last night too, remember?  You came into our bed."
Angie: "That was the scary dream. There were so many Sophia's and I had to take care of them all!"
Me: "I can see how that could be scary."

Oh my! That's a lot of Sophia's!

Every night, when we say goodnight, I tell my girls that I love them 47 pounds. It's just a number that came out and it has stuck. They, in turn, love me 47 .... somethings. They change it all the time. Sometimes it's 47 kisses, or 47 pieces of chocolate. I've even gotten 47 airplanes and helicopters! They've scared me recently by giving me 47 babies, all at once! They fixed it, though, by following up with 47 arms to hug those babies. ;)
