Conversations with Toddlers

"Mommy, what dat?", says Maddie pointing to the wine glass sitting on the counter.
"It's a wine glass.  I had some wine last night."
"Oh.  While you was goin to sleep or while you was sittin on da couch?"
"While I was sitting."
"Hey Mommy, dat like cryin."
"What do you mean it's crying?"
"No, dat like cryin.  You know, like when I cry, like waaaah, waaaah."
"Ohhhhhh.  Yes, it does sound like whine, doesn't it."

You should check out Truman's Aunt Farm for her. :-) We love this book and it got all of our kids on a homophone kick which has yet to end some three years later. They're always finding new ones!
