Midnight Snack

They come in the dark of night, hungry, eager for any tidbit that may still be left. A little nip here, a bit of grazing there and in the morning, the buds that had just begun to unfurl their petals have vanished. In their stead are the stumpy ends of deer-nipped stalks. Next year, I'll be sure to spray deer repellant!

Aww. That's so sad. I have some spare deer netting that just drapes directly over the plant and blends in pretty well. Insects can get in, but deer can't get through it to get a bite. If you'd like some, I'll be glad to share.

Before we moved to PA, I used to think deer were just cute, innocent animals. Every time Paul's mom would complain about them, we would always say that they were there first! After moving there, we were of a different opinion, as they eat EVERYTHING in your yard! And there were never a lack of deer. So, I know where you are coming from!
