On the Horizon

With only two weeks left until school starts again, summer is nearing its unofficial end. Labor Day is early this year, and so school starts a bit early as well. I'll be going back to tutoring in the second week of September. Maddie will be nearly four months old by then, as well. I'm a bit nervous about leaving her, but of course, she is in the extremely capable hands of her father. I want him to start putting her to sleep a couple of nights this week and to give her a bottle of pumped milk a few nights as well to get her prepared. Though I'm trying to plan all of the sessions so that I'll be home in between for a brief period of time, I can't guarantee that she'll be hungry when I'm home, hence the need for a bottle.

I am releived, however, that I won't be teaching at the college this year. That means no stressing over prep work and grading papers while two children demand my daytime attention. I'm already relaxed just thinking about what I don't have to do.

We've signed Angie up for soccer, too. She's looking forward to that. And she'll do story time at the library and spend a bit of time in Grandma's kindergarted class each week. Perhaps in the spring we'll try out dance classes or gymnastics. Angie saw some of the gymnasts on the Olympics and thought it looked like great fun, so maybe we'll give that a go first.

Maddie has discovered that sucking on her fingers is a good substitute for the pacifier. She's a happy smiley doll baby most of the time and I just feel so lucky to have two beautiful children.

Life is going pretty well around here!
