Alternate Reality

Angie doesn't nap anymore officially. But some days are harder than others and she succumbs to sleep, albeit reluctantly. This day, she had been deeply asleep for two hours before waking. The moment her eyes popped open she declared in a slightly disappointed voice, "You said you would play with me, Mommy."

"I did? When did I say that?"

"Before, when you were fixin the curtains." I haven't done any curtain mending for a minimum of 10 to 12 months.

"Oh, sweetie, I wasn't fixing the curtains. I think you were dreaming."

"Are some of my cousins here? Where are Katie, Josie and Sarah?"

"They weren't here sweetie. I think you were dreaming."

Crying a little, "Why my cousins are not here, Mommy?"

"Sweetie, you were sleeping and dreaming. Your cousins were never here. You fell asleep and dreamed they were here."

"Why I'm still wearing my clothes, Mommy? Is it tomorrow?"

"No, you just took a nap, Angie. It wasn't night time. It's still today."

My poor baby was so confused, it took a good five or more minutes to convince her that she'd had a good nap and nothing had happened while she was sleeping. I laughed the whole time!

My sweet Angie. How very cute. She must have been deeply asleep.

I'll see you tomorrow.
