"I drived the car all by myself, Mama," Angie told me yesterday.
"You did!?" I exclaimed, knowing that she had sat in Papi's lap while he pulled the car back into the driveway from the street.
"Yes, I'm a big girl. I can drive car-es all by myself. And I can turn on light-es too!"
Yes, my little girl wants to be big. But at the same time, she is eager to return to her "baby days" as she sees us pulling out all of her old baby stuff -- car seats and tiny pajamas and baby bathtubs and cradles and swaddling blankets. She talks in "baby talk" with Miguel, though I can't really handle it and ask her to talk like a toddler for me. I prefer my toddler-going-on-big-girl.

FYI: Humor her on this baby thing. It really makes it easier for her to give up her place gracefully. She'll stop with the baby stuff in just a few weeks, as soon as she knows she CAN be a baby if she wants to. It's much more fun to be a big girl. :-)
