Every cloud has a silver lining, they say. I'm a personal believer in optimism. . . if you can't find the silver lining, you're just looking at the cloud from the wrong direction!

Falling
Miguel went up to bed and, I presumed, checked on Angie before turning in. After all, she's sleeping in her brand new toddler bed tonight for the first time. She's used to being able to twist and turn and bump into her crib railings, never the worse for her mishaps. So, when I heard the large "thump" shortly after Miguel turned in, I flew up the stairs, jumped the baby gate at the top and made it to her bed only a split second after Miguel. Crying in frightened confusion, she snuggled into Miguel for a moment before reaching for the reassurance only a Mommy can bestow. Cuddling her into calmness, I resettled her in her bed, hoping she wouldn't be too scared to sleep there. Fortunately, she was too tired to notice she was back in her own bed. So, in the immediate aftermath, I wonder, "How do you teach a toddler not to fall out of her new toddler bed?"

Poor Angie. :-) It happens to all of them, if that's any comfort. We have a bunch of lambskins and I always just put one on the floor to cushion the fall. After a couple of weeks, I find them still in bed in the morning, and then the cushion can go. I'd think a folded blanket would work, too.
