One free JVC DVD Recorder without remote control (retail value: $325)
One remote control, with shipping ($40)
One package of 50 Fujifilm DVD-R's, not compatible with recorder ($20)
One package of 30 Maxell DVD-R's, not compatible with recorder ($15)
One package of 30 JVC DVD-R's, not compatible with recorder (free after lots of hassles)

Option 1:
Purchase one package of 30 JVC DVD-R's that might or might not be compatible with the free recorder for $35.

Option 2:
Purchase new DVD recorder, compatible with already purchased DVD's (though not with the remote control :) ) for $80 + tax.

After reviewing the expenditures already made and the possible future expenditures, it was determined that option 2 was the most cost effective option. We are currently enjoying the ability to record movies on our new DVD recorder.
