Saturday was Angie's birthday. She's been anticipating it for a good month, continually asking where her birthday cake is. And finally, on Saturday, the big day was here. She woke at 6:30, excited and happy. We spent the morning playing and making pancakes. Then, we visited the local zoo, where Angie fell in love with the peacocks and sheep. By 11:30, she passed out in the car, her excitement unable to sustain her. After a two and a half hour nap, she was well refreshed and ready for presents. Bad Mommy that I am, I hadn't yet wrapped them, so, as Papi took her for a walk around the block, I quickly wrapped the biggest and placed it in the middle of the hallway for her to find when they got back. Tearing at the paper, she quickly revealed the new kid-sized basketball hoop, which we set up immediately. Dinner at Friendly's with an M&M sundae for dessert wrapped up a pretty wonderful day. But that's not the end of the story.
Her party was yesterday. We vowed to keep it small, but somehow, more people came to this party than to her 1st birthday party. A total of 39 adults and 18 children attended; I didn't realize we'd invited so many people, but I think what happened was that we invited some people, not expecting them to come, because they never do. But yesterday, they did. Angie was overwhelmed, but she enjoyed it and today is playing happily with her many new toys. She has more clothing that we know what to do with, including a particularly cute cheerleader outfit, complete with pom-poms.
And all the while she was enjoying her big day, I keep thinking, "She can't be two already...where did the time go?"

Be careful...don't blink!
I should mention that Miguel has a very large family and all of those in attendance were family members...even just his immediate family would make for a large party!
