A Good Read

Amazon sent me a "Spring Reading" advertisement for 40% off some of their books. I bit and ended up with five new books, two of which I've finished, one I'm working on and the other two I am eagerly anticipating.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nightime is an easy read, but so well done that you think you are in the head of this mentally handicapped boy, who is the narrator of the story.

The Secret Life of Bees had me up till the wee hours, wondering at the relationship between the young girl who narrates and the family of women she has insinuated herself into.

The Time Traveler's Wife is so intriguingly written that it took me a good 50 pages to finally wrap my mind around the concept of a man who travels, randomly and unexpectedly, in time, meeting his wife (and himself) in the past at various ages. It is told from both of their viewpoints, and done so well that I am again contemplating keeping some late nights.

I haven't yet picked up the Life of Pi or the Kite Runner, but both await me on my bookshelf.

I love a good read.

I have the curious incident book on my shelf to read, and I have the Life of Pi to read to the kids, eventually, but I read all the rest...in the wee hours of the night, while David was deployed and I couldn't sleep anyway. The time traveler's wife had me from page one. I feel like that too. Why does he go where I can not follow? Enjoy!
