Opinions

I don't often share my opinions on subjects that I know will be controversial. I often find myself differing drastically in opinion from the people I love, and rather than provoke an argument I reamain silent. This allows people to assume that my views match their own, and perhaps that is a bad thing. Perhaps I should go ahead and voice my opinion knowing that the people I love will still love me in return, regardless of my political, spiritual or emotional proclivities. Although I am more prone to commenting in person, I frequently stop myself from doing so in this forum, where the written word, unaccompanied by body language and facial expression, can be misinterpreted. On top of that, I have a style of writing that seems to portray superiority and know-it-all-ness, where my spoken language does not (I hope).

I must appear shallow and intellectually impaired from the nature of my posts most times, but I am not. I think deeply about the things everyone else thinks deeply about; I just fail to post about them. That's why I often have lapses in blogging. I want very much to share what I've been thinking, but I don't want it to be received badly.

I think that if you are afraid of speaking up, which I can hardly believe, maybe it's because you are afraid to change your mind. I find that I sometimes say something, am challenged, and then realize that I was wrong. It's not easy, especially with things you have felt or believed for a long time, but it's the only way to grow.

Take a deep breath, write what's on your mind, and welcome the onslaught of differing opinions as the only real way to find out the truth as you see it. If your thoughts are never challenged, you can never know if you are right!

Love you and I'm looking forward to your next post!

What if we promise to love you anyway, even if we disagree?
