Vista

Microsoft's new operating system, Windows Vista, is supposed to be available on January 30th for purchase. But from everything I've heard about it, you shouldn't buy it if you've a computer that's more than a year old. Apparently, it's hardware requirements are demanding (you need at least 15GB of unused hard disk space...my entire hard disk is 30 GB and special graphics cards) and your drivers and software may all need to be updated so that they are compatible with Vista. I can't help but wonder why anyone would go to the trouble. On top of all that, MS is not known for distributing fault-free software, so your chances of getting a good product on January 30th are slim. My advice, wait. Wait until you're ready to buy a new computer, then get one that has Vista installed on it if you want. But wait at least until the first two service packs are out. Who knows what bugs the first crop of users will discover?
