I've finally started getting Angie to fall asleep in her crib by herself...well, almost by herself. For the last week or so, it's been taking her forever to fall asleep with our standard rocking method. So, the other night after a frustrating 20 or so minutes of rocking with her just staring into space, I plopped her into her crib, eyes still open, and said, "Go sleepies, baby." And lo and behold, 15 or 20 minutes later, she actually did. I laid on the floor next to her crib the whole time, occasionally whispering, "Lay down and go sleepies, Angie," when she would pop her head up to see if I was still there.
It's worked 4 times since then, day and night. Soon, I think I'll be able to use the, "I'll be back to check on you in a few minutes" lie and I won't even have to stay upstairs with her while she falls asleep. Of course, I'll give this a couple of weeks to work first.
The only issue now is whether Miguel will follow the pattern when I'm off to work Monday through Thursday nights.
