Another Question

What is the minimal set of chores you absolutely must accomplish every day in order to feel as if you've accomplished something?

I absolutely must

* make the bed
*wash the dinner dishes
*clean up Angies toys

Once these things are done, I am calmed and ready for bed.

Wow, that's a small list.

Make the bed, clean master bath, kitchen must be shining at all times, living room vacuumed, two loads of laundry done, clean kids bath (yuck), make bread, and school.

The kids clean up their own toys and rooms, and straighten the bookshelves and what-not. Vacuuming is essential, because if it isn't vacuumed it doesn't look clean. I also mop about three times a week. Floor care is very important to the overall look!

There is no minimum to accomplish to feel like you have done something. Sometimes "Playing with the baby or children" is a fantastic accomplishment.

I was working for school yesterday morning when Sandie called and said Beckie and Angie were at her house did I want to come over. I said I had few things to do for school then I would come if I had time.

Well, I thought about that and then said to myself - my daughters and grandchildren are more important to me. So I hopped in the car and spent about an hour with them.

I went to school thinking - what a great day.

I want to add: I can't sleep well with messes lurking. Even if I can't see them. Like a messy closet. I try to keep things relatively neat, but sometimes we go astray. When Davey came home and moved back into the closet, it got really messy really fast. Right there in the bedroom. Lurking behind a closed door. My own personal monster. I had him sort through his clothes and get rid of the stuff he didn't like, then I went to work. Two bags for trash and goodwill and fifteen minutes made the closet very neat and very usable.

I need to see neatness to feel satisfied. That's why some of my chores are mandatory, like daily vacuuming. And of course the kitchen is the heart of the home and that has to remain clean and usable.

Our kitchen is not the heart of our home, because it is so small, we can't all be in there without getting in each other's way. So, our living room / dining room area is what matters to me. And that, of course, is where Angie's toys are. Hence my need to clean it all up.

nope, no matter where you spend your time, the kitchen is vital. If you let the kitchen go to pot, everything else stalls. Clean counters are a must (by clean I mean empty as well as wiped). Swept floor. Dishes put away. Stove and sink cleaned if you can manage it, but not vital.

Personally, if I accomplish one thing, and not any one thing in particular, I feel pretty good. Obviously, I am not the greatest housekeeper.

However, my clothes are clean, my kitchen is clean. I always have clean dishes. Etc.

Things just may not get put away right away.
