Well, I know it's been a long time, and I thank everone for not hounding me about it. I know it gets really boring and annoying to check someone's blog constantly and never find anything new, so I'll take a moment to catch you all up.
I've given my last final exam and now I just have to grade them and submit final grades by Monday.
Angie turns 1 tomorrow, and we're having a party for her on Saturday with all the family (and a few friends) invited.
I'm looking for a summer job and have prospects at Huntington Learning Center and Bloomfield College. Of course, I'm hoping for the Bloomfield College one, because it pays better, but I'd take Huntington (it's one of those private tutoring places). I also auditioned to become a Princeton Review SAT teacher, and have been invited to training. It's 50 hours at $6 per hour and then, if they hire me, I will teach SAT courses (5 week course) at $18 per hour to start. The training is a big commitment, and it won't pay off until September, but that's ok. I'm willing to do it. Miguel, however, thinks I'm worth more.
Miguel's mom started dialysis for failing kidneys and is on the road to a kidney transplant. One of her children will likely be her donor; Miguel is out of the running because he has kidney stones. But personally, if no one else was a match except him, I'd take a 38-year-old stone-producing kidney over a 70-year-old failed one any day.
Mavelyn is nearing her time to give birth to her baby girl. They've been fixing up her father's house (that's where she and fiancee Omar live) and making it baby ready for the last month or so and it's looking pretty good.
I'm still tutoring and I have prospects for a couple of students who want math enrichment with an eye towards being computer scientists over the summer, so we'll see what turns up.
In the meantime, I'm still trying to stay on top of chores and such and not doing such a good job of it.
Oh, and I have surgery to remove my ovarian cyst on Thursday. It's a same-day procedure, so it shouldn't be a big deal. They won't give me a time until Tuesday or Wednesday, though, so I don't know when I have to go to the hospital yet.
Well, that's me in a nutshell right now. Sorry I haven't been posting, but I haven't really wanted to. . .
