We use a cloth curtain for looks on the outside and a plastic liner curtain on the inside of our shower. My biggest problem with that is that we only have one strip of lights above our medicine cabinet in the bathroom, and when you use an opaque, colored (usually white or beige) inner curtain, the light in the bathtub is cut to nearly nothing. So, as I was shopping for a new inner curtain, I noticed they had clear ones. What a difference that makes. I can actually see everything in the shower now!

Yes. I use a white fabric liner on the inside, because the light is centered in the bathroom, but I've used clear plastic before. And always something pretty on the outside!
