Mornings

Usually, in the mornings, Angie wakes up around 6:30 or 7:00 and I usually bring her into bed with me to snuggle and get a few extra minutes of sleep. Then, we usually wake up together and start our day together. But, I've discovered that I feel like my day is so much more productive if I can get up before her and get dressed and such. So, I'm going to have to change my routine and somehow manage to get her to sleep in her crib for that last hour while I begin my day. And, of course, I'll have to convince myself to actually get up at 7:00. . .

There is a lot of benefit to getting up before the rest of the family. You do indeed feel on top of the day, not at it's mercy. However, and I'm sorry to point this out, getting up first means getting up early, not getting everyone else to sleep in! When I started doing this myself, I had to look at the children's usual waking times and plan to get up a half hour before them. That means 6:00 for me. You aren't going to get Angie to change her ways, you know. It's a losing battle from the start. The only person you can change is yourself!

Jennie is probably right about Angie waking up at her usual time no matter what you do. However, something that you can work on is getting her to occupy herself and be happy for a few minutes at least before she needs you. The twins get up between 6:30 and 7:00 and I certainly don't want to get up at 6:00. I'm lucky in that they have already learned to play in their cribs for quite a while before they need me to come and get them. It lets me start my day with no pressure.

Love you! Hope it works out. (Let me know if I can help in any way!)
